Rumor: Developer GRIN Has Little to Smile About
August 11, 2009 | 10:26 AM PST
The folks at GRIN, best known for their recent work with Capcom's Bionic Commando franchise and the recent Terminator: Salvation video game adaptation, would seem to have little reason to live up to their company's moniker at the moment. Following rumors of massive layoffs earlier this year, word has come from Gamasutra that the company closed its Barcelona and Gothenburg offices in June.
If that weren't enough, the main office in Stockholm could also be in dire straits, as "sources indicated to Gamasutra that employees have apparently been told not to show up for work, and the company may be undergoing some kind of closing or facing difficulty staying afloat."
The company, founded in 1997, saw its star rise in recent years, but it seems to have fallen back to Earth just as quickly. VG247 attempted to get comment from the developer, but were only told by a rep that "At the moment we have no comment to anything [related to] that matter," and "No, we're not commenting" when asked if there was any truth to the initial report.
