Haze Development Hampered by PS3 "Technical Issues"

Crytek's release of Haze for the PlayStation 3 last year seemed to be lacking in several areas, and was not exactly the media darling which some had hoped it would be. According to UK managing director Karl Hilton in a recent interview with Develop, the project "had a lot of development issues which meant it wasn't the game it should have been."
"A lot of them were technical issues," he continued. "The PS3 is a powerful machine but a difficult one to get the best out of."
Hilton went on to admit that in the course of developing the game, Free Radical had "hit a few stumbling blocks." "We spent more time trying get the game running properly and less time to design the game properly," he added.
The poor response to the game led to Free Radical being bought and rebranded as Crytek UK, who are now assured that the powerful CryEngine 3 will make such technical issues a thing of the past. As for the PlayStation 3 itself?
"I don't think we've seen the best out of the PS3 at all," Hilton said, "and I definitely think one of the best things about Crytek and the CryEngine is that we're now in the best position to get the most out of the hardware."
He adds that he believes that no one has pushed the PlayStation 3 to its limit, but that the CryEngine 3 will give his group "a great head start" towards doing just that.
