Media: Konami Announces Frogger Returns for PSN and WiiWare

Konami has announced that their classic arcade icon, Frogger, will be making his return on both the PlayStation Network and WiiWare. Curiously, there seem to be no plans to release it on Xbox LIVE Arcade, perhaps because of Frogger 2?
The two games seem unrelated, however, as Frogger 2 featured a story about the titular frog helping an alien retrieve parts for his broken spaceship. Frogger Returns, on the other hand, gets back to basics as players guide their hop-happy little friend back to his marshy home from within the city.
Of course, it's not a straight-up remake; along with improved graphics, sound, and camera angles, there are new levels in the form of the sewers, streets, subways, and more. And these levels also have their share of new enemies and obstacles, plus power-ups that allow him invincibility and the ability to reverse or stop time.
Frogger Returns boasts a game 12 times the size of the original, crisp 3D graphics and local multiplayer capabilities. Players can go head-to-head in timed capture-the- pad races, as well as compete with friends by showing off their best scores. With a 25-year legacy, innovative controller options and extended levels, Frogger Returns provides all players the ultimate casual and core gaming experience.
Keep an eye out for Frogger Returns this Fall.
