Sony: Home "Still a Priority"
November 2, 2009 | 2:40 PM PST
Good news, Home-owners! That is, assuming anyone reading this still plays it (surely you went for the zombie fun, right?).
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Recently, PlayStation Home Director Peter Edwards told Edge that "It's been a long road," and that "[w]e've proved there is a market out there and we've got a lot of people that spend a lot of time in [Home]. It's not a priority right now but there is a business model there." This got some fans of the service a little riled up.
But apparently, that's not what Edwards was trying to say; according to Sony, the quote was taken out of context and was misrepresented.
"Allow me to put your minds at ease about this recent press," said one manager of Home on the Official PlayStation Forums. "The coverage of what Pete Edwards said at the London Games Conference was not only a misquote, it was a misreprentation [sic] of what he actually said. Edwards was saying that monetizing Home was not as big a priority as building a great platform, with a compelling environment and a strong community. Home is still a top priority for Sony and will continue to release quality content and provide a positive experience to our users."
"And yes," they add, "we will continue working on fixing bugs, login problems, and other user issues."
So, there you have it. Nothing to worry about, and nothing more to see here. You can all go back to your Homes.
