But continuing our Rock Band/Guitar Hero stories for the day, Harmonix, MTV Games, and EA have revealed that they are lowering the price of the Special Edition bundle of Rock Band to a mere $99.99 for a limited time. The press release does say, however, that the PS2 Rock Band instruments are compatible with the PlayStation 3 console, though it doesn't mention the software.

"For a limited time this promotion will provide music fans and casual gamers the chance to experience the Harmonix masterpiece Rock Band at an extremely affordable price," said Bob Picunko, Vice President of Electronic Games and Interactive Products for MTV. "This is a great value for a Father's Day gift, a graduation party or summer vacation."

Personally? I think they might just be trying to move unsold stock, but what do I know?
